For some reason I've been really excited that it is February 29. I wanted to do something different because it is Leap Day. So I went shoe shopping.
That is right...shoe shopping. I am not much of a shopper, but today seemed like a good day to get new running shoes and new red shoes and I got both :)
And I felt like I got a pretty good deal on both of them. Yay!
Then I went with a friend to McDonald's for a late evening snack. It was a good day! Happy Leap Day everyone!

God Loves Us!
I've been reminded a lot recently that we are all children of our Heavenly Father and He knows each of us individually. He knows me. He loves me. He knows you. He loves you. It amazes me (actually boggles my mind) how Heavenly Father knows and loves each of us individually, but I know He does.
I thought I had more to write, but I think that pretty much sums up what I wanted to say.

50/50 Challenge!
About a month ago, one of my boss's mentioned about a 50/50 challenge in 2012. The challenge is to read 50 new books and watch 50 new movies in 2012. They don't have to be new release movies or books, but they just have to be ones you've never seen or read before.
Although I don't think watching 50 new movies will be so bad, the 50 new books seems a bit harder to me. Technically that's about a book a week and I am only on book 4. I like to read but I go through phases of reading lots of books and not reading very much. But I am working on it and I think I can do it (or at least get close to it or at least read more books than I did last year.)
I know it's a little late start, but does anyone want to join me in the challenge or set your own goals for reading and movie watching?
Also my boss actually made a blog where we can post about the books and movies that we read and watch. You can read the blog and if you feel so inclined you can be invited to the blog and post on it too. Here's the link to the blog. Or you can just talk to me about it. Either way.
Well I think that is all for now.

Mamachka and Papachka were in Town!
Mom came to town for about three weeks to help Lara and Glen and family. And Dad came out for about a week. (If you want to read more about Spence and his journey through chemotherapy you can go to Lara and Glen's family blog)
Mom and Dad had bought tickets to come out long before all this happened with Spence. But Mom drove out early with Heather and Dad just kept his original flights. Then Mom went back with her original return flight with Papachka.
Mamachka and me!
Papachka and me! (And yes they're self portraits:)
It was so good to see them! I am glad they got to come over to my house one Sunday evening for dinner and hang out with me, since they were pretty busy the rest of the time. Moya mamachka and moy papachka pretty much rock!

Spence and Scriptures
I would like to share with you a story about the power of scriptures. So on Tuesday evening I learned that my 16 year old nephew, Spencer, has leukemia (acute myeloid leukemia).
The next morning for my scripture study I read Alma 26 (that just happened to be where I left off) and this is what I read in verses 35-37:
"yea, and my joy is carried away, even unto boasting in my God; for he has all power, all wisdom, and all understanding; he comprehendeth all things, and he is a merciful Being...yea, I say, blessed be the name of my God, who has been mindful of us, wanderers in a strange land... we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen."
I feel like the Lord was telling me that He is aware of us and knows what we are going through. He sees the big picture and knows how to help us get through the tough times. He is a God of love and mercy!
P.S. Spence started chemotherapy today and he is being strong and of good courage. He rocks!

That Was Hilarious!
I found some funny quotes on http://www.great-quotes.com/funny_quotes.htm I don't know why but this website just really made me laugh tonight. I would like to share some of the quotes that I really liked :)
"Sometimes the road less traveled is less traveled for a reason." Jerry Seinfeld
"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something." Jackie Mason
"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein
"Love at first sight is possible, but it pays to take a second look." Author Unknown
Always forgive your enemies - nothing annoys them so much." Oscar Wilde
Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else." Margaret Mead
"I've never been married, but I tell people I'm divorced so they won't think something's wrong with me."
Elayne Boosler
I hope you enjoyed these quotes as much as I did and if you would like to see more go to the website above. The end.

My Family!
Here's a journal entry from last week.
"Recently I have had an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my family and their love and support and generosity and kindness and patience toward me. I know my family loves me and that means more that I can express in words. I love my family so much and I could never thank Heavenly Father enough for sending me to this family, my family. I am so grateful for my family."
The end.
