K's Birthday Trip- Day 6- Porto, Coimbra, and Nazaré, Portugal

We left Porto this morning heading back towards Lisbon with a couple of stops along the way.

Before we left Porto, Heather, Mom and I wanted to see the view from Luis I Bridge again. We walked part way across and then turned around.

After leaving Porto, our first stop was the town of Coimbra. 

We saw a little bit of the campus of the University of Coimbra.

This truck was on a narrow, windy, one way road before this and came to this point. He was trying really hard to make it through. We watched him for awhile, but ended up needing to leave. So we didn't get to see if he made it through.

But he pretty much had to make it through here because going back would have been nearly impossible.

We saw these university students and asked if we could take a picture with them in their university uniforms.

We liked this top hat lined street! The top hats were related to something with the university. I don't remember what though.

We got to go on a food tour in Coimbra!

This was the first stop of the food tour.

I think this sandwich was called the Suckling Pig Sandwich. It's a popular sandwich in Portugal.

I didn't love the sandwich but it was decent.

After the food tour was done, we had time to just wander around Coimbra a little longer. 

Heather, Mom and I might have bought more pastries to share before getting back on the bus to our next stop. 😋🤣

We hopped on the bus again and headed to Nazaré. We didn't spend a ton of time here.

Memory Hermitage!

I loved all of the blue and white tiles of Memory Hermitage!

Nazaré is most known for its beach. Apparently the beach gets the world's largest waves at certain times of the year due to a nearby underwater canyon. (We were not there at the time of year for the big waves though).

Heather and I had to get some gelato while in Nazaré!

After we were finished in Nazaré, it was time to head back to our Airbnb in Lisbon. 

The aquaducts in the picture above and below were in Lisbon. We drove passed them multiple times, but never stopped there. I wanted a picture of them though since I thought they looked cool. These pictures were taken from the bus.

Once we got back to the Airbnb in Lisbon, we all ordered a little food to supplement eating the leftovers (from previous days) for dinner. 

Then Heather and I hung out at the laundromat near our Airbnb to do a load of laundry.

Technically I didn't need to do laundry on this trip, but I ended up putting a few items in a shared load. 

 I am glad I ended up washing some of my clothes so that I didn't smell too bad at the very end of my trip. 🤣

Since the next day was a travel day, this night I packed up my bags for the plane ride to Italy the next day.

Overall, this was a nice day with beautiful scenery, delicious food and good company!
