I would like to share with you a story about the power of scriptures. So on Tuesday evening I learned that my 16 year old nephew, Spencer, has leukemia (acute myeloid leukemia).
The next morning for my scripture study I read Alma 26 (that just happened to be where I left off) and this is what I read in verses 35-37:
"yea, and my joy is carried away, even unto boasting in my God; for he has all power, all wisdom, and all understanding; he comprehendeth all things, and he is a merciful Being...yea, I say, blessed be the name of my God, who has been mindful of us, wanderers in a strange land... we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen."
I feel like the Lord was telling me that He is aware of us and knows what we are going through. He sees the big picture and knows how to help us get through the tough times. He is a God of love and mercy!
P.S. Spence started chemotherapy today and he is being strong and of good courage. He rocks!
