Christmas

I'm grateful for multiple reasons to have three brothers that live within an hour of where I live. One of those reasons being that when big holidays come around I don't need to travel by plane anywhere.

I try to avoid airports around Thanksgiving and Christmas time if I can help it. Tickets are usually more expensive and airports are crazy busy.

I say all of this to say, I'm glad I got to spend part of Christmas day with my brother, Matt and his wife, Karey and their kiddos. They live about an hour from where I live so I just drove to their house early on Christmas morning and hung out with them half of the day.

Below are some pictures from Christmas Day at their house.

Me, Matt and Karey!

Matt and A being cat like. :)

B putting together a Lego set he got for Christmas!

Matt and Karey got their kiddos a ping pong table for Christmas. Of course we had to break in their new table by playing some rounds of ping pong.

L working on his lego set!

J playing a game!

Karey and A playing with thinking putty!

I'm glad I was able to go to Matt and Karey's house on Christmas day. It was a fun day!

I hope you all had a good Christmas and will have a wonderful New Year!

Sick

It’s no fun being sick. I started feeling sick on Tuesday. I had a fever with body aches and sensitivity to the temperature for the first day or two. Then after that I’ve had congestion with coughing, sneezing and a lot of blowing my nose. My nose feels a little raw. I’m feeling a bit better today though.

I’m sad because I’ve had to miss two social events this week because I’m sick. I was really looking forward to these events. Obviously it’s good to not go out and spread whatever I have, but it’s still sad though.

I hope you all are staying healthy and happy this holiday season.

Apple Music Wrap Up

Can I just start off and say how crazy it is that it's December already?! Sometimes life just seems to fly by and I don't understand how. 🤷🤣

But it's that time of year again for music wrap up on Spotify or Apple music. This year I have a subscription to Apple music so I mainly use that for listening to music.

Below is some info from my music review this year.

My top 15 most played songs this year! This does not surprise me at all.

Vienna by Ultravox won my most played song five months in a row. 🤣

My top 7 albums.

My top genre of music is Pop. Looking at the statistics that I’ve posted it doesn’t seem like it would be, but it is. :)

I love seeing my music wrap up at the end of the year. I think it's fun to see what I've been listening to in this type of format.

What are your most played songs or albums of the year?

Life

I must admit the first few days after getting home from my trip, I had a hard time adjusting back to reality. I had to work and run errands, but I was also slightly injured and so I couldn't go on walks. I felt like I was stuck inside. I was having a really hard time. But eventually, I started feeling better.

Below are some pictures of things since my trip ended though.

Ash was really happy to have me back. He was extra snuggly when I first got back from my trip.

My birthday was a couple of weeks after I got back from my trip. On my birthday, I invited a few friends to get ice cream with me. We went to Dairy Queen and it was delicious!

I'm grateful for my friends! They are awesome!

One Saturday (sometime after my birthday), I went to a used book sale at a library in Arlington with my brother, Tim, and then we got ice cream at Carvel.

I hadn't had Carvel ice cream in a very long time. I got Biscoff cookie ice cream and it was delicious!

On another Saturday, I met two friends (Heather and Gwen) in downtown Washington D.C. We went to the zine fest at the MLK Jr Memorial Library and then we got dessert at a place not too far from the library.

We went to the Peach Cobbler Factory and I got peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. It was very sweet but I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Unfortunately I did not get a picture of my friends, oh well. It happens. 🤷🤣

This was me after church one Sunday. For some reason I like this picture of me so I wanted to share it. :)

I just wanted to share some pictures of life since I got back from my trip. I hope you all are having a nice autumn!

K's Birthday Trip- Day 10 and Day 11- La Villa and Venice, Italy and Travel Day

Day 10

This day Kristina and I said goodbye to the Dolomites and got a ride from Heather to Venice so that we could catch a train to Milan.

(Everyone else stayed in Europe longer. They all stayed in Italy another day or two and then went on to Switzerland.)

This was the view from my hotel room this last full day in Italy. I felt like every day it looked a little different. So beautiful!

And the view from my room a little later in the morning.

This was the view from the dining room of the hotel this morning (where we had breakfast each morning).

Although we had our main family photo shoot the day before, we didn't get pictures with our matching family reunion t-shirts.

This morning we found a place near the trail down by the river to get pictures with our matching shirts. The lighting wasn't great but we didn't have much time to look for another spot.

I loved the town we stayed in, La Villa! It was a cute nice town.

The hotel we stayed at was awesome too! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The location was lovely. The breakfasts were delicious. The shower had great water pressure and temperature control. In general, the hotel was great!

Now it was time for Heather to drive Kristina and I to Venice.

On the way to Venice!

So pretty!

And we made it to Venice!

Kristina and I dropped off our bags at a luggage storage facility for a few hours so we didn’t have to carry it around with us while we wandered around Venice.

There was a Burger King in Venice!

Some sites in Venice!

Since we had limited time in Venice, the main thing we wanted to do was take a gondola ride on the canals. So we did just that! I'm glad we did. (The next 29 photos were from the gondola ride).

Enjoy the pictures!

It was so cool to see Venice from the water!

I was trying to take a picture of the clothes hanging out to dry from the top floor (showing that people lived there).

You can see three bridges in this picture!

At the end of our gondola ride!

I am so glad we did the gondola ride! It was cool to see Venice from the water.

After the gondola ride, we walked around the streets of Venice for a little while. Of course we had to get gelato.

The gelato was delicious!

Wandering around the streets of Venice!

I don't remember what this building was…

Heather left to drive back to La Villa (so that most of her drive would be during daylight hours). Kristina and I wandered a little longer in Venice.

Then we picked up our luggage from the luggage storage facility and headed to the train station.

On the train to Milan!

Some scenery from the train ride!

Of course we had to do a series of silly faces because why not?! 😂

Our train left Venice a few minutes late, so we missed our connecting train in Milan. Unfortunately there were no more direct trains or buses that night to the airport (our Airbnb was really close to the airport).

But as we were trying to figure out what to do next, we noticed there were two people needing to also go to the airport. We asked if they'd like to take the same taxi and split the cost. (The taxis were really expensive).

They agreed and we made it to the airport. Then Kristina and I continued on to our Airbnb from there. We stayed at the Airbnb that night and then we both had morning flights the next day to our respective home states.

Day 11

This day I flew home to Virginia and Kristina to California.

This was the view from just outside our Airbnb this morning (right before leaving for the airport). So pretty and peaceful!

On the plane ride home!

I was sad to leave my family back in Europe but happy to be back in my own bed this night.

I am so glad I was able to go on this trip to celebrate Kristina’s birthday. It was an awesome trip full of beautiful scenery, delicious food, and excellent company.
