January Happenings

Some random happenings from January.

Enjoy the photos!

Three years in row, we've had a family gathering on New Year's Day with the family members who live in the area.

This year we met up at a mall food court for lunch. It was fun and the food was delicious!

One day it was pouring outside and I really didn't want to go on a walk. I put on some fast drying clothes, got my umbrella and convinced myself to go.

I ended up really enjoying the walk. For some reason it made me happy even though I got pretty wet on the walk. :)

I received an adult coloring book from one of my sisters for Christmas. I've been enjoying coloring the pages. It's pretty cathartic.

I went to brunch with a few friends one day. I got this salted caramel waffle and it was delicious! It had bacon, whipped vanilla mascarpone, brown sugar roasted walnut crumble, caramel drizzle and sea salt. 😋

The group of friends I went with to brunch. My friends are awesome!

Some cuddle time with Ash.

The last half of January has been quite cold outside. I had to convince myself to go on this cold walk last week. I did go, but I didn't want to. 😂

Normally the winters in Virginia are pretty mild with cold temperatures but not very much snow. Last weekend it snowed and it's also been really cold. The highs have been in the 20s and lows in the single digits every day since the snow got here. The issue with that is now the snow is icy.

Unfortunately I do not own a shovel and could not shovel my car out of its parking space the first day after the storm (which would have been the best time to do it). And it's been really hard to find a shovel because all of the stores are sold out. Thankfully I received one on my doorstep (after a local store got a restock of shovels) on Thursday.

The snow pictures above were taken the day after the storm (Monday). And it’s Saturday now and my car is still stuck. I’ll work more on getting my car out today.

Hope you all have had a good January and are staying warm and safe wherever you are located!

Procrastination

Sometimes I put off doing things longer than I should because I overthink. I think it’ll be super complicated or take a long time. At times it does end up being complicated or take a long time but sometimes it doesn’t.

There was something I’d been putting off doing for a couple of months. This week, I finally made the call to get it taken care of (yay) and it ended up not being nearly as bad as I had debated about in my head for so long.

I say all of this to say, maybe I should try to not overthink so much and procrastinate tasks as much as I do sometimes. But knowing myself that will be a hard thing to try to overcome. 🤣

2025 in Review

I’ve seen people on social media make videos of their 2025 in review. I am not technologically savvy enough to make a video but I thought I would make photo collages from pictures from each month.

For various reasons, I’ve been debating whether or not I should post this. But after some back and forth in my head about it, I decided to just post.

Enjoy the pictures!

Although most of my pictures are of happy things, life is not always rainbows and butterflies. Life gets really hard sometimes. But I hope this year you have a good year with more happy memories than bad memories. 😊

Happy New Year!

Christmas

I'm grateful for multiple reasons to have three brothers that live within an hour of where I live. One of those reasons being that when big holidays come around I don't need to travel by plane anywhere.

I try to avoid airports around Thanksgiving and Christmas time if I can help it. Tickets are usually more expensive and airports are crazy busy.

I say all of this to say, I'm glad I got to spend part of Christmas day with my brother, Matt and his wife, Karey and their kiddos. They live about an hour from where I live so I just drove to their house early on Christmas morning and hung out with them half of the day.

Below are some pictures from Christmas Day at their house.

Me, Matt and Karey!

Matt and A being cat like. :)

B putting together a Lego set he got for Christmas!

Matt and Karey got their kiddos a ping pong table for Christmas. Of course we had to break in their new table by playing some rounds of ping pong.

L working on his lego set!

J playing a game!

Karey and A playing with thinking putty!

I'm glad I was able to go to Matt and Karey's house on Christmas day. It was a fun day!

I hope you all had a good Christmas and will have a wonderful New Year!

Sick

It’s no fun being sick. I started feeling sick on Tuesday. I had a fever with body aches and sensitivity to the temperature for the first day or two. Then after that I’ve had congestion with coughing, sneezing and a lot of blowing my nose. My nose feels a little raw. I’m feeling a bit better today though.

I’m sad because I’ve had to miss two social events this week because I’m sick. I was really looking forward to these events. Obviously it’s good to not go out and spread whatever I have, but it’s still sad though.

I hope you all are staying healthy and happy this holiday season.

Apple Music Wrap Up

Can I just start off and say how crazy it is that it's December already?! Sometimes life just seems to fly by and I don't understand how. 🤷🤣

But it's that time of year again for music wrap up on Spotify or Apple music. This year I have a subscription to Apple music so I mainly use that for listening to music.

Below is some info from my music review this year.

My top 15 most played songs this year! This does not surprise me at all.

Vienna by Ultravox won my most played song five months in a row. 🤣

My top 7 albums.

My top genre of music is Pop. Looking at the statistics that I’ve posted it doesn’t seem like it would be, but it is. :)

I love seeing my music wrap up at the end of the year. I think it's fun to see what I've been listening to in this type of format.

What are your most played songs or albums of the year?
