This was the day of our awesome Viking Sushi Boat Ride!

, we had some time to visit Helgafell. Helgafell has amazing 360 degree views from the top!

Before we left for Iceland, Diana had booked us this boat ride out of
Stykkishólmur and it was pretty dang awesome!
It was a bit colder this day and it was windy on the boat. But I loved this boat ride!

The scenery was awesome!
We saw a lot of birds.
While we were on board, the crew caught some clams, crabs, mussels etc and then we got to eat them. Yes, we ate them straight from the sea, no cooking or anything (and hence the name of the boat tour). There were some chopsticks and sauce there but nothing else.
I ate a mussel.
And it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I was mainly worried about the texture, but it wasn't too bad. I actually thought I would willingly eat mussel again. :)
Sometimes we got really close to the islands to get a good look at the birds. I thought we were going to hit the island a couple of times, but we never did. The captain knows what he's doing. :)

The boat ride was seriously so awesome! The scenery, the birds, the Viking sushi, everything about it was just so cool!
After the boat ride was over, we headed to our next destination. Djúpalónssandur Black Sand Beach! I loved this place!
This was one of those otherworldly places. :)

There was a shipwreck that washed up on shore and there were remains all along the beach.

This was still at the black sand beach and I really liked this place! I loved the clear water and the reflection of the rocks on the water. It was hidden a little bit from the beach.
The thing I think I loved even more about this little place (besides its beauty) was that no one else was there for the few minutes I was there. And I was able to stand there for a couple of minutes in silence. I couldn't hear anything. Not people, not the beach, not cars, not birds, not footsteps, not the wind, nothing. Just the sound of my own breathing. It was so interesting to be in complete silence even for just a minute or two.

They had these rocks lined up on the beach to test our strength! Sailors used to test their strength by picking up these rocks. They had to be able to lift a certain one up to a nearby platform to be eligible to be an oarsman. (Read the picture above for more info.)
They're a lot heavier than they look! This one I couldn't even budge.
Even this small one was not easy to move. I could move it, but with difficulty. I would not have been elgible to be an oarsman. :)
After our otherworldly experience at Djúpalónssandur, it was time to head to our next destination.
We went to another black sand beach. It was not nearly as big and spectacular as Djúpalónssandur, but it was cool nonetheless. :)
I liked the sound of rolling pebbles as the waves retreated.

And I went on a zipline! It was my first time ever and it was fun! It wasn't very long, but it was long enough to give me the desire to go ziplining again. :)
We stayed at an Airbnb that night. It was in the basement of the someone's house and it was pretty dang awesome! It was very spacious and had a kitchen (although we didn't use it.)

Diana was fighting a cold, so we took it easy this evening. But what a view and accomodations we had to take it easy in. :)
What an awesome day full of beautiful scenery, Viking sushi, and otherworldly experiences! I loved it!
