Germany- Day 6 (Frankfurt am Main)

Day 6- L and I took the train to Frankfurt. M and K have a train stop super close to their house, so L and I just hopped on the train to downtown Frankfurt.

There was track work going on on their line into Frankfurt, so the train took us to a stop where we didn't know what to do (meaning what train to take next). My phone wasn't working very well so I couldn't look it up and we didn't see any signs to help us out. But I was able to pull up a map on my phone and see how far it was to our first stop. Our first stop was about a mile away so we decided to walk there.

I have to say it was pretty dang hot this day. So we had to take lots of breaks and drink lots of water a long the way.

But we ran into this church while walking. We didn't go inside, but I thought it was pretty cool!

 Another scene along the way.

We made it to our first stop. Palmengarten.

L had asked if he could come with me to Frankfurt and of course I said yes but I said I had one condition... he had to be in some pictures with me. He was good and let me take selfies with him. :)

 The gardens were beautiful!

The gardens were beautiful!

After the gardens we made our way to Main Tower. Along the way we ran into the Alte Oper, a beautiful opera house/concert hall!

Resting at the fountain in front of Alte Oper. Like I mentioned earlier, it was really hot this day and we had to take lots of breaks and drink lots of water.

We made it to Main Tower, where we bought tickets to go to the top to see the view!

As a side note, can I just say that I was really looking forward to the building being air conditioned since we had been outside a lot at this point and it was really hot? But I was disappointed when we got there and there was no AC. I realize it is not usually as hot there as it was for the weeks I was there, but still no AC.

But it's okay, the view from the top was worth it.

It's pretty!

Frankfurt is quite beautiful from above!

After we were done at the tower, we headed toward Römerberg. Along the way we ran into some fun things!

This Love/Hate sign. One side said Love...

The other Hate.

Ice Cream break!

I liked the street and the church.

St. Catherine's church.

Inside St. Catherine's church.

I loved this bridge over the road!

St. Paul's church.

And we made it to Römerberg. It was such a cute, very German square. I loved it!

Old St. Nicholas church on the square.

Resting on the square! It's hot outside.

Near Römerberg was the river... we didn't spend much time here, but I wanted to see the river.

A church I saw down a road near Römerberg.

Frankfurt Cathedral!

L and I had a long but good day! Oh and I'm pretty sure I would have gotten lost on the way home if L hadn't been with me.

It was a fun day and L was a trooper and we got to see everything on my list!

Thanks L for joining me on this excursion!
