Germany- Day 1, 2, and 3 (Cemetery, Großer Feldberg, and Oberursel)

I visited Germany for two weeks!  My brother and his family live near Frankfurt. My brother asked if I would fly back on the same flight with his wife and kiddos so that I could help out with the kiddos on the plane (they were visiting the U.S. for family reunions). I agreed and so I got to visit Germany for two weeks. :) I loved it there!

Day 1- We arrived in Frankfurt on Thursday evening. We basically got to their house and then went to bed.

Day 2- The next day I got to explore a large beautiful cemetery.

I liked that they had flowers and other plants planted in the ground in front of the graves (and not just grass).

It was a very large and beautiful cemetery!

This was a watering station, where they had a watering tub and pails to water the plants in front of the graves and also a place to throw out the old plants.

This part of the cemetery was called a sandarium. I have no idea what it means, but it was pretty!

I took a picture of this gravestone because of the person's first name.

Day 3- M, L, J, and I went to the top of a mountain near their house (Großer Feldberg). It had a beautiful view!

At the top!

A lookout tower at the top of the mountain. (We did not go to the top of the tower).

Later in the day, K, A and I went to Oberursel (a town close to them). I saw this tree near where we parked and found it fascinating. I had never seen such a tree before and still have no idea what type it is.

Oberursel!

That old fashioned car that you see at the church drove passed us and had a Just Married sign on it.

This is a memorial to victims who died in concentration camps.

More Oberursel!

Here's the Just Married couple getting their photos taken. What a beautiful place to have wedding photos!

Overall the first few days were a lovely start to my time in Germany! Stay tuned for more posts about my trip.
