I loved Bath! Bath was just so pretty and different than any other city that I'd been to at that point that I kind of just fell in love. I loved the architecture, the atmosphere, the scenery, the Roman Baths.
Bath Abbey!
I went inside Bath Abbey and it was beautiful! It was so light and welcoming.
Inside the abbey there were a bunch of memorials as well as gravestones along the walls and also on the floors where we were walking. Some of the memorials on the floor of the abbey were so worn down you could barely read them (which was really sad to me) but there were notices around the abbey commenting about how they had plans of trying to do something to protect them from getting worse.
The outside of the abbey.
The Roman Baths! Can I just tell you how much I loved the baths?! They were just so cool and there's so much history there. Each level of the museum is basically a different time period in the history of the baths. It's just so cool!
The view of Bath Abbey from the Roman Baths!
Read about this spring in the picture below.
Some ruins from the Roman temple pediment of Sulis Minerva found nearby.
These little pieces of metal had complaints that people wrote on them and then would throw into the bath of the goddess Sulis Minerva hoping that she would punish the people that they were complaining about. Read a little more about them in the next two pictures.
These curses were found in the Sacred Spring.
Some really old steps. They're super worn down, but just think of all the history these steps have seen.
The Sacred Spring. The spring of the goddess Sulis Minerva. When the baths were in use, no one was allowed to swim in this bath, but this is where the people would throw in their offerings or their curses to the goddess.
This is where the water from the Sacred Springs leads to which eventually leads to the river Avon.
The main bath from ground level.
At the end of the museum, they had a place where you could drink some of the water from the baths. Of course it was filtered, but it was warm and also had a little funny after taste. My throat had been sore that whole day and then when I drank this water, my throat didn't hurt anymore. I like to say that I was healed by the waters of Bath. ;)
Bath Abbey and the entrance to the Roman Baths!
After I finished my wonderful journey through Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths, I started walking toward the Royal Crescent.
A beautiful church along the way.
I loved the name of the bookshop of the church pictured above!
I made it to the Royal Crescent! Yay!
I recently watched a Jane Austen movie and immediately recognized this place as the location they filmed some of the scenes. I kept on thinking, I've been there, that's so cool.
I loved how green everything was the whole time I was in the United Kingdom and that there were a lot of flowers blooming!
The River Avon!
I liked this bridge that had small shops lining it that you access from the other side (obviously).
It was about time for me to leave but I wandered for just a bit more soaking in the views.
The river!
The bridge with the little shops lining it. You can't even tell you're walking across a bridge.
As I mentioned at the beginning of the post, I loved Bath! It was just so unique and full of so much history that I couldn't help but like it.
