This is a boring post about my laptop for my own records. Try not to fall asleep. ;)
Two or three weeks ago I noticed that my laptop stopped charging. I was hoping I just needed a new cord because that is a simple, relatively cheap fix.
I bought a new cord and alas it did not help. My laptop still wouldn’t charge. Before the battery died, I made sure all of my files and pictures etc were backed up onto my external hard drive (thinking I might not be using this laptop anymore).
I contemplated buying a new laptop but I can’t really afford that right now. Then I realized why don’t I try to get my laptop fixed. If it’s just my charging port that needs to be fixed then it should cost less than buying a whole new computer.
Instead of making an appointment to get my laptop fixed right away, though, I decided on a temporary solution. I decided to see if I could use my phone as my computer for awhile.
I knew if I was going to do that I needed to buy a cheap Bluetooth keyboard that I could connect to my phone (because typing emails and blogposts with the phone keyboard is really annoying to me).
So I bought the keyboard and have been using my phone as I do my laptop. With the keyboard it does make some things more tolerable to do than before that I normally wouldn’t do on my phone (like typing emails).
But after a couple of weeks of using my phone as I would my computer, I decided I need to get my laptop fixed. (I am currently writing this blogpost on my phone. It’s fine, but it’s much easier to write on my laptop.)
I have an appointment for later today to take my laptop into a computer repair place and hopefully they can fix it. Wish me luck.

FYI The charging ports on both Glen's and my laptops went bad within a couple years. Glen's computer is totally kaput; luckily mine still works, but ONLY when it's plugged in. We even tried switching out the battery, thinking it must be a battery issue, but it was exactly the same even with a new battery. I decided Windows laptops are total crap.
That’s annoying about both of your laptops. My laptop is only three years old so I definitely feel like it shouldn’t be having issues yet.
I now have my laptop back from the repair shop and they said my charging port is broken but since it’s connected to my motherboard, it would cost over $700 to fix (which is more than I paid for my computer). Needless to say i am not fixing my laptop.
I’ll just be using my phone as my computer for now. 🤷🏻♀️
