Changhua Rocks!

Yesterday was a really good day! We stayed here in our lovely city of Changhua! In the morning, we went to the morning market. We bought the ingredients we needed to make dumplings for that night and we just looked around and took it all in!
They had some pretty interesting things there, like live snakes and frogs and fish in bowls on the ground ready for someone to buy and take home to eat, whole dead plucked chickens (some were white and some were black.) They had a little bit of everything.

Later in the day we went to this awesome Confucius temple in downtown Changhua! It's beautiful! I believe it was built in the 1700s. It's been renovated a little bit, but it is old.

Look at that bell! It didn't actually have a ringer in it, but I liked it! It is heavy; if that would have fallen on top of me, it would've hurt ;)

Some details of the temple! I really love how colorful the temples are here!

Look at this shot! It took quite a few times for me to get all of us in the shot. All of us took turns taking the picture and each time we would switch spots in the background :) It was great fun!

Look at these doors! They are old and beautiful!

Me in front of the temple!

Educational notes in the temple! They have these cards that you can write on and write your educational hopes on them and then hang them up. For example someone wrote that they hope that all of their English students will learn English well! You can write whatever you want that has to do with education. I didn't write one. Maybe next time.

I loved this shot with the tree and the temple in the background! The trees here are so beautiful!

After we toured the temple, we headed to the grocery store for a few more ingredients for our dinner and then we went home and rested. Then we made our meal of dumplings and egg drop soup. The dumplings were a success! But the egg drop soup not so much ;) But it was a good time!

Later that night we had a little dance party with loud music and glow sticks! It was so much fun to let off some energy and just dance and not care that I do not know how to dance at all. Afterward we decided to calm down by watching a movie. The movie was hilarious!

Yesterday was a good day! Friday was a good day! Today was a good day!

Loved your description of the morning market. I had Nana Crain ooohing and aaahing as I read her your descriptions of the live snakes and fishes, etc.

I love the pictures of the Taiwan temples and especially the trees.

What do you put in your dumplings? They sound good. Tim and I ate at a Mongolian Grill yesterday and had dumpling soup.

Hope you had a great weekend and are totally ready for the new work week.

Love, Dad

I love the awesome tree and I, for one, am glad the bell didn't fall on you. That definitely would not have made for a good day.
